
Trumpet player, born in 1962,started at the age of 8 playing the trumpet. Ruud graduated from the conservatory in 1988 and won also in 1988 the Wessel Ilcken jazz-award. Ruud joined in 1996 the Metropole Orchestra, the most famous jazz-and pop orchestra of Holland, being the trumpet jazz soloist. He shared the solo stage with Joe Lovano, Peter Erskine, Randy Brecker, Ronnie Cuber, Bob Brookmeyer, Kenny Wheeler and many more, and recorded over 100 cd productions with the Metropole Orchestra.
For over 25 years Ruud is the main teacher trumpet jazz at the Conservatory of Amsterdam.
Ruud is also a well known studio musician, and played on more than 300 cd productions. His latest sessions include working for David Foster, Earth Wind and Fire, Seal, Nathalie Cole, Donna Summer and Michael Bolton.
Ruud is also a member of the New Art orchestra conducted by Bob Brookmeyer, the jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw, the Michiel Borstlap Band, and his own quintet, the Ruud Breuls/SimonRigter Quintet.
