Samui International Jazz Music Festival 2012

From September 18 – 25, the air on Koh Samui will be once again be filled with the sounds of Jazz. The Samui International Jazz and Music Festival attracts renowned International and Thai Jazz Musicians performing in various styles spanning the Jazz spectrum. The line-up is exceptional and the six beach side locations are stunning, providing perfect surroundings for relaxed jazz melodies served with a cocktail on a tropical night. These seven nights are really about capturing the charm of our tropical island and to while away the night while listening to world-class musicians.

The International Jazz Music Festival opens on Sunday September 18th at 7.30pm at the Amari Palm Reef/ Chaweng with Irene Atman from Canada and her band, which will set the stage for a week long extravaganza of Jazz in convivial surroundings.

‘Frank in Person’ will take the stage on Monday 19th at Rocky’s Boutique Resort/Lamai. Frank (yes, Frank is his real name!) brings an impressive tribute to Frank Sinatra, including The Looks and The Moves.

Be enchanted by the performance of the Curacao native Izaline Calister on Tuesday 20th at the Rock Pool in Karma Samui who combines the Afro-Caribbean-Calypso influences of her native Curacao with jazz, creating a unique blend of music.

Peter Beets: a world class jazz pianist, who has shared the stage with jazz greats like Chick Corea, Wynton Marsalis, Dee Dee Bridgewater. Peter Beets will offer a ‘new groove’ at Nora Buri/ Chaweng on Wednesday 21st.

Sara Lee Vos is a funky Jazz singer from the Netherlands who knows how to enchant you with her captivating tunes on Thursday 22nd at Anantara Bophut.

Alexander Beets, Ntjam Rosie, Ruud Breuls are just a few of the musicians taking part in  ‘Dutch Jazz’ at The Beach Republic, Lamai on Friday 23rd followed by the ‘International Blend Band’ on Saturday with Tropic Green Big Band from Singapore, Ori Dakari from Israel, Changton and Friends from Thailand. The evening will reach a climax when the ‘Sax summit’ of five fine Saxophone Players takes us late into the night.
